Interesting Seoul

Interesting things i've learnt from my 2 weeks stint in Seoul:

  1. When a Korean couple gets married, the guy pay for the house, and girl pay for the electronics. If the guy is not able to pay for the house, usually they rather not to get married.
  2. Guys don't usually open doors for girls, and ppl rush into lifts before others get out.
  3. Korean guys do go for monthly hair treatment
  4. Koreans love chinese food - Especially Zha Jiang Mian
  5. Koreans are afraid of winter, and choose to stay at home during cold months
  6. Despite 4 above, some Korean girls can walk around in Miniskirts during Winter.
  7. Ginseng chicken Soup is a Summer Dish - Why not winter when the hot soup will give so much comfort?
  8. Breakfast for most Koreans consist of Rice w Kimchi
  9. Koreans NEED Kimchi for ALL their meals
  10. Golf in Korea: a Hole-in-one means 3 years of good luck. And the person who gets Hole-in-one will hold a grand celebration. Usually they'll hold a dinner for their friends and colleagues and give out golf balls with their names and the date n time of hole-in-one printed. Someone actually spent up to US$14k for this celebration. In Korea, insurance companies actually insures Hole-in-one. That means, if you managed a hole-in-one, the insurance company will cover your hole-in-one celebration expenses.

Funnie expressions:

  1. Red long vegetable - Chilli
  2. Big Watch - Clock
  3. Roll your hair - Hair treatment
  4. Security - Secretary
  5. An aunty, doing a full squat, and motioning water flowing from backside - Toilet
